All Gloss Naturals lacquers are made without the 7 common chemicals found in nail polishes (Toluene, Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP), Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, Camphor, Xylene and Parabens). Therefore, all our polishes are 7-Free.

Toluene A liquid that is used as a solvent and has the familiar smell of paint thinner. Toluene is a toxin that may also cause birth defects and developmental problems.

Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP) A commonly used plasticizer that has been linked to cancer. DBP has also been connected to birth defects in studies involving lab animals. This toxin is a suspected teratogen, which are agents that cause malformations in an embryo.

Formaldehyde A chemical used to preserve and embalm dead animals (and humans). Formaldehyde is also a known human carcinogen.

Formaldehyde Resin A derivative of Formaldehyde, mainly used in the production of coatings and adhesives. It is considered not only toxic but also an allergen.

Camphor A poison that can cause seizures and disorientation if used in large doses. This chemical acts as a cover on your nails, depriving them of nutrients and causing yellow staining.

Although nail polish cannot be made completely with organic and natural ingredients, Gloss Naturals uses ingredients that are safe for expectant women and children.

Ethyl Acetate - an organic compound with a sweet smell similar to that of pears. We use it as a solvent to make sure the rest of the ingredients mix and blend well.

Butyl Acetate - an organic compound that is used as a solvent. Butyl acetate has a sweet smell of bananas and is actually found in many types of fruit. It is used as a synthetic fruit flavoring in foods such as candy, ice cream, cheeses, and baked goods.

Isopropyl Alcohol - also known as rubbing alcohol, it’s used as a solvent in our polish.

Nitrocellulose - derived from cellulose, this organic compound is found in most green plants. This is a durable film-forming ingredient which ensures durability.

Adipic Acid - an organic compound found in nature’s mushrooms. It is often used in foods for flavor and gelling.

Trimethyl Pentanyl Diisobutyrate - this biodegradable compound ensures the polish stays on your nails as long as possible and is often used as an indirect food additive.

Triphenyl Phosphate - helps the polish harden and stay on longer. It's also used as an indirect food additive.

Stearalkonium Hectorite - this safe ingredient helps the polish stay thick. Also found in lipstick and eye makeup.

Diacetone Alcohol - a non-toxic ingredient which produces a brilliant gloss and hard film, it aids the polish from chipping.

Citric Acid - an organic acid that is obtained from citrus fruits. It helps Gloss Naturals lacquers stay strong.
